Preparing the sanctum…
Guidelines for artists who wish to offer their classical arts as seva at temples partnered with Bhakti Raga Seva.
All musical offerings within BRS-partnered temples are understood to be an act of devotion (seva) to the residing deity, not a performance for an audience. The Sadhaka accepts this as the primary intention and agrees to approach each session with this understanding.
Applicants must have a minimum of 5 years of formal training in their primary classical tradition (Hindustani or Carnatic) under a recognized guru. Practitioners of classical dance, instrumental music, and devotional vocals are all welcome to apply. BRS reserves the right to assess artistic readiness before confirming a seva engagement.
Once a seva engagement is confirmed, the Sadhaka is expected to honor the agreed date, time, and location. If an unavoidable conflict arises, BRS must be notified at least 7 days in advance so that arrangements can be made. Repeated cancellations may result in suspension from the seva roster.
All Sadhakas are expected to observe the codes of conduct specified by the temple committee. This includes appropriate dress (traditional attire), abstaining from non-vegetarian food on the day of seva, and maintaining the sanctity and silence of the temple precincts.
The repertoire for each seva should be appropriate to the deity, tradition, and occasion. BRS will communicate specific requirements when applicable. Sadhakas are encouraged to discuss their programme in advance with the BRS coordination team.
Recordings made within the temple sanctum during a seva engagement may not be commercially distributed or used for self-promotion without explicit written consent from both BRS and the temple committee.
Bhakti Raga Seva operates as a non-commercial spiritual initiative. Where a temple chooses to offer dana (a voluntary contribution) to a Sadhaka, this is a gesture of gratitude from the temple, not a fee from BRS. Sadhakas may gracefully receive or decline dana according to their own commitment.
These terms may be updated periodically as BRS grows and refines its seva framework. Registered Sadhakas will be notified of any changes. Continued participation implies acceptance of the updated terms.
By submitting the Artist Intent form, you acknowledge that you have read and understood these Terms of Seva.
