Known locally as Chhoti Ayodhya, this Ram Janki temple stands beside Tikait Rai Talab off Mohan Road. Tradition holds that Sita Mata and Lakshman rested here on the way to Valmiki's ashram.

Shri Ram Janki Mandir stands beside Tikait Rai Talab, the great tank off Mohan Road in old Lucknow, and is known to devotees as Chhoti Ayodhya. Tradition holds that when Shri Ram sent Sita Mata to Valmiki's ashram, she and Lakshman rested at this spot, and that Sita Mata founded a shrine here. Raja Tikait Rai, a minister at the court of the Nawabs of Awadh, later restored the temple and built the tank beside it. The temple's mahant points to written records some five centuries old, and a Hanuman idol said to be four hundred years old is still worshipped here.
