One of Lucknow's oldest Shiva shrines, on Mohan Road near Buddheshwar Chauraha. Tradition holds that Shri Ram, Sita Mata and Lakshman worshipped Mahadev here on a Wednesday — Budhwar — which gives the temple its name.

Shri Buddheshwar Mahadev Mandir, established by Raja Bakshi, is counted among the oldest Hindu shrines in Lucknow. Its name comes from Budhwar: local tradition holds that Shri Ram, Sita Mata and Lakshman stopped here to worship Shiva on a Wednesday on their way into exile. Mahashivratri is its great festival, when devotees come from across the region to offer milk, flowers and bel leaves to Mahadev.
